March 22, 2018 - The Commercial Appeal released an article and video about Artist, Jamond Bullock’s, Art + Environment Initiative in Frayser. Bullock is one of two selected artists to create a public art project in response to community and resident feedback in Uptown and Frayser around environmental issues, which will influence and shape their subsequent public art project. Khara Woods is embedded in Uptown to address environmental opportunities and challenges.

The District Mural Training Program provides mural training and professional development from MuralArts Philadelphia and culminates in each artist creating their own $30,000 mural project in each of the seven Council districts. The seven artists were selected back in March 2018, but we wanted to gain more insight into each artist’s background and intent to apply for the District Mural Program. So we gathered around our table at UAC and asked them a few introductory questions, so we could get a “behind the scenes” into the Seven artists for the DMP.

Khara Woods is a Memphis-based graphic designer whose work will be featured at the upcoming MEMFix event at Film Row on Saturday, September 24th from 11-5.
