about the artist

My work has always focused on exploring feelings of alienation in different environments, mostly addressing these feelings in the guise of a “stranger in a strange land” sci-fi trope or utilizing detailed, lush landscapes where the colors or style of vegetation indicate something is “off” or not quite “right” about a sublime scene.

Although I have always worked primarily in a solitary and independent way, moving to Memphis has opened me up to new horizons in my own art-making. I have seen a level of community interaction within the arts that I haven’t experienced in Seattle, Madison, or Pittsburgh. I am able to use my design sense and my own personal research practice to actively listen to the people and the history of the neighborhood to help develop an identity or fulfill a need. Moving forward, I plan to continue working in my studio while actively participating in the betterment of the Memphis community through public art projects and outreach programs.
