Dogwood Gateway Tree - Dogwood Neighborhood / District 7

The vibrantly painted work of art, inspired by the Dogwood tree – was designed, forged and fabricated in steel by The Metal Museum, the only such museum in the U.S.

This vibrantly painted work of art, inspired by the Dogwood tree – was designed, forged and fabricated in steel by The Metal Museum, the only such museum in the U.S. The Dogwood Gateway stands 12 feet tall and spans 10 feet across. Its blossoms glisten in the sun and invite passersby to stand in the shade it creates, while serving as a new landmark for motorists and the neighborhood. What was once a neglected street corner now serves as showcase for a large-scale steel sculpture that symbolizes resurrection and regeneration.

about the museum

The Metal Museum

The Metal Museum is the only institution in the United States devoted exclusively to the advancement of the art and craft of fine metalwork. This is achieved through exhibitions, collections, conservation, restoration and consulting services, classes, internship opportunities, artist residencies and apprenticeships, research and onsite fabrication of artwork and architectural elements.
