about the artist

Lindsey Bailey is an artist and illustrator based in Memphis, TN. She has worked on editorial illustrations, book illustrations, book covers, portraits, and character designs for clients ranging from startups to ESPN and Black Dog & Leventhal. Her work focuses on representation of people of color, specifically black women and their children, in sci-fi and fantasy settings. Influenced by Afrofuturism, her personal work explores themes of darkness and motherhood, and challenges heteronormative, monoracial conceptions of classical art.

Lindsey was a member of the UrbanArt Commission’s 2018-19 District Mural Program and has exhibited in many shows in Memphis with Crosstown Arts, Art Village Gallery, and Young, Gifted, and Dope.
