project overview

UrbanLIFT Bike Racks | Uptown

The Metal Museum created four bike racks located along Mill Ave and Greenlaw Ave. The bike racks’ design focuses on four neighborhood themes: family and youth, nature and trees, Uptown pride, and the trolley stop. The first design for “family and youth" integrates human forms of different sizes with their arms joined in a way that evokes families holding hands on a walk or playing together.  The second design is “nature and trees,” with a simple leaf design whose curves echo the designs of the gray benches at three of the four prospective locations.  The third design presents a U-shape so as to tie into the Uptown branding.  Finally, the fourth design celebrates the Uptown trolley stop as an asset for tourists and residents alike and is based on the arches of a trolley stop structure.
