project overview

Big Green Learning Garden Murals | Memphis-Shelby County Schools

Big Green (formerly The Kitchen Community) commissioned fifteen fun and fresh murals to enliven Learning Garden areas in Memphis-Shelby County Schools. Big Green’s commitment to youth wellness and health is reflected in each of the colorful murals, which depict fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, and bees. The different elements interact to form a lively conversation about food and nature.

Eight of these murals were created by Memphis-based artist Amy Beth Rice. Memphis-Shelby County school students were instrumental in the design and execution of each mural.
