This project, under the umbrella of Bridging the Distance, seeks to honor the postal workers, in particular the black and brown postal workers disproportionately affected by COVID and systemic racial disparities, who get up each day to make sure the people of Memphis receive a friend's letter, a government check and probably most importantly at this moment, mail-in or absentee voting ballots.

In 2020, in response to current events, UAC issued an open call for small-scale community-focused art projects. This past April we were proud to have been able to fund a third and final call for Bridging the Distance projects.
Paige Ellens’s 2020 temporary installation reinterprets Anthony Lee’s 2009 mural “Modern Hieroglyphs”in light of a decade of technological change. This virtual exhibition features original videos created for the project by 25 local, national, and international filmmakers.
