Project Guidelines

The events of the last year have challenged us to reconsider how we move through the world, how we care for one another, and how we think about our place in the world. UAC is proud to issue a third call for short project proposals from artists to make and share their work in response to everything we have seen since March 2020. All we need to know is: What do you most want to share with your friends, neighbors, and fellow Memphians in reflecting and responding to the events of the last year? How would you creatively share this project with your community? We would also like up to 10 images that represent your work and, if possible, your proposed project. Please be sure to include a project description and format for sharing in your responses to the above questions.

10 projects will be selected and awarded $500. Projects must be completed in 2021 and be virtually shareable by UAC (documentation of a site-specific project, live streams, web-based content, etc). Proposed projects should not require additional funding.

Your safety and the safety of your community is our priority. All projects should maintain social distancing protocols. Please refer to the current guidelines from the WHO, CDC, and City of Memphis when creating and sharing your work, and let us know if you have any questions.

Please fill out the google form below and submit your images to A.M. O’Malley-Miller at am@uacmem.org

Selections will be made by a committee consisting of Amelia Thompson, Suzy Hendrix, and a collective vote from the UAC team.

This round of Bridging the Distance projects is made possible by the Tennessee Arts Commission - Covid 19 Arts Resilience Grant
