Vunkbaum, a collaboration between Ray Vunk and Barry Buxbaum, began when these two artists discovered they were exploring similar archetypal images in their art. This led to a natural merging of their unique styles into a new art form.
Barry’s distinctive style, symbolist characterized by encaustic and mixed media on panel, explores the marriage of iconic images with tactile wax surfaces and rich textures.
Ray’s work also explores iconic symbolist imagery, utilizing precise collage work and occasional elements from graphic design.
