about the artist

Suzy’s work is often inspired by architectural styles and how they reflect the time and place they came from. She is drawn to the idea of an ephemeral past and how memories can be lost or covered up by new experiences, techniques, and ideas. Her art retells these stories, using old shapes and forms in a modern way. She uses both medieval and cutting-edge techniques and materials to create a sense of juxtaposition in her work

She uses a variety of mediums in my work, including stained glass, dalle de verre, mosaic, steel, aluminum, ceramic, fiberglass, and concrete. Dalle de verre, a thick, durable glass invented in France in the 1950s, is a particularly fascinating way to incorporate glass into public art.

Her early career focused on music and performance art. For over a decade she traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia. Her interest in public art was piqued while touring with the performance art driven avant garde troupe, Urban Sax. This experience allowed her to perform in many great architectural wonders; such as Mont St Michel in France, Al Haramba in Spain, Chartes Cathedral of France, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral of New York. Her style fluctuates across centuries of muses. Travel is her muse. Her inspiration comes directly from that.

Her sculptures are currently on loan to the city of Franklin KY, in conjunction with Josephine Sculpture Park as well as Hattiesburg MS, Huntsville Alabama: The university of Alabama through 2028, and the city of Madison GA.

Suzy’s most recent large-scale project is in Jackson TN, where she is creating a pair of sculptures for Highland Street.
