about the artist

Noah Thomas Miller is a multivalent artist based in Memphis who works in painting, woodworking, film, or a combination of materials, to preserve memory and tell stories. He attended Memphis College of Art and has continued his practice through work with museums (The Brooks Museum of Art & the Museum of Science and Industry), Indie Memphis, Crosstown Arts, and has shown with local institutions like ARTSMemphis & the Urban Art Commission. The artwork he is involved with has to do with preservation of memory. Home is the place that houses all of our memories and experiences, thus it's become the primary subject of Miller's work. These pieces specifically are carved wood, masked in layers of house paint, and framed around a single photo & memory. This is done to connect to the physicality and craftsmanship inherent in the creation of homes, and to also draw focus to what's inside.
