Williamson’s current work is a personal experience of the nature of Being explored through paint, sculpture, installation and performance.

“Intention Seekers” is about channeling energy and attention to areas that allow us to gain a better understanding of ourselves and others.

The body of work is connected through process, and supports whatever has risen in her consciousness that she wants to examine further. Sometimes the work is uncomfortable and painful. Sometimes it is healing and playful.

Her process begins with a drawing from observation, little mundane moments of things she wants to commit to memory. Maybe it is a really great meal she made for her family that kept her in the kitchen for two days, or the glowing embers of the fire pit that persists after her houseguests have gone home. Williamson prefers to sketch on grid paper; she’s not sure why, except that she comes from a family of accountants who put things in boxes, and the little squares do something to the way her brain organizes information. Then she makes a painting from the little sketches. Ultimately, each iteration of a sketch turns into another painting. By the time she gets to the last departure from the original sketch, the work is messy and loose. Each evolution is connected by the conjunction and Williamson finds them all to be true and necessary.

As a visiting instructor at the University of Memphis, Williamson teaches everything from Foundations to undergrad and graduate thesis seminars. She enjoys connecting to her students and helping them discover emerging content and themes in their work, especially as they develop their personal
