about the artist

Katrina Boza Leggett is an artist and educator based in Arlington, TN. She paints with watercolor, gouache, and acrylics, exploring themes of memory, time, and transformation. Growing up in a military family, she experienced a transitory childhood marked by a constant search for belonging—a thread that continues to run through her work.

She uses color, movement, and subject matter to seek joy while reckoning with the realities of aging and unresolved moments. “Aging hardens us,” she reflects, “as we realize what has passed us by and what we may never resolve.”

After earning her degree from the University of Memphis, Katrina exhibited her work locally while teaching elementary and middle school art. Life soon became full, and twenty years passed before the pandemic offered space to return to painting with urgency and intention. She embraced the time to reconnect with her creative voice and has painted obsessively ever since.

Katrina currently teaches middle school art while exhibiting in local galleries. She earned an Honorable Mention in the TAEA Educators Art Exhibition and was a runner-up in the Plein Air Painting Exhibition at the Memphis Botanic Garden. Her work appears in *Pinch Journal*, and she had her first solo show in March 2025. She also received a fellowship to attend Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts.
