about the artist
Felicia Wheeler is a Memphis native and visual artist. Wheeler’s artistic background consists of a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts with an emphasis in Ceramics from UofM and a body of work (which has meandered and grown over the years) that now explores traditional Indigenous and African beadwork practices with elements of crocheted handiwork that are an homage of her matriarchal upbringing. Felicia is passionate about art equity especially and particularly when it comes to historically underrepresented individuals, magnifying the importance of the work that she engages in and represents.
