UrbanArts Commission partnered with Studio Institute to hire a Project Management and Marketing Intern that will be working with three project managers to assist in multiple projects including a quarterly exhibition at the UAC, developing and researching an artist and neighborhood profile database and creating and archiving a moveable art database. The Intern will gain experience working with artists, stakeholders and community capacity building. They will assist UAC in documenting and cataloging a large public art collection as well as helping UAC meets our strategic goals and advancing our mission.
Reports to: Operations Manager
+ develop marketing materials for distribution to partner organizations, visitors, and neighborhoods where public art projects are embedded
+research and profile neighborhoods for database
+assist in social media strategy development
+archival research of City of Memphis Movable Collection for artist bios and production of catalogue for
+create artist profiles for current and past artists that have been commissioned by UAC, to better navigate potential artists selections for upcoming projects.
+Communicate with local artists to coordinate delivery and installation of work for upcoming UAC exhibition.
+Assist in the planning and execution of the quarterly exhibition open house at UAC.
+The intern should have excellent written and verbal communication skills
+basic computer skills
+a passion for art, (public art recommended) and community outreach
+Graphic design, social media strategy and curatorial skills are a bonus.
Eligibility: All applicants must be enrolled as a full time undergraduate student as of the Fall 2019 semester. You must be a rising Junior or Senior and attend college in Memphis, or live in Memphis.
Compensation: This position pays $15/hr, 28 hours a week for 9 weeks. In addition, you will receive a $500 stipend for completing the Arts Intern component of the program with Studio Institute.
