Cheeto Ryan is a mixed media collage artist in Memphis, Tn. Ryan was overwhelmed by the vast amount of poverty that burdened his community .The treatment of his community and geographical differences intrigued his curiosity of helping the community through a camera lens .A graduate of Memphis College of Art with a Bachelors in Fine Art. Cheeto Ryan began working with community organizations and schools in Memphis and Arkansas, teaching classes, creating murals, and creating change through community engagement. Experimenting between collage and photography, he wanted to alter the perception of topography and blight using his experiences through documentation and artifacts.T he consciousness of his surroundings has formed a social activism that leverages his experiences through collecting materials and documenting the social life in different neighborhoods, in an attempt to reveal these layers and complexities.
